The C-word

Another friend of mine died this week.

My heart literally hurts.

This dear friend had been suffering with breast cancer for the past 8+ years.

She was stoic and brave and funny and warm and practical and incredibly inspiring.

She was always glamorous, no matter what part of the treatment cycle she was in.

She had a successful career and an optimistic outlook.

She was an incredible mother, faithful and supportive wife and loyal friend.

She was unassuming, yet open and opinionated.

I will never forget her beautiful smile. It would never fail to raise a smile from me.

She leaves behind a gorgeous five year old daughter and equally gorgeous husband. He is now a widow and single-Dad at the ripe old age of 36.

Breast cancer is a bitch.

Cancer puts the C in the c-word.

RIP dear friend.

I think this is the first time I've commented on your blog. Been observing from a distance. But this post was worth commenting on. I'm so sorry for your loss. I call cancer EVERYONE'S disease. Because it literally affects everyone. I have two friends with cancer. One has secondary to her bones now. I can't begin to tell you how heartbreaking it's been for their friends, family and children. I feel so sad for your friend's hubby and daughter. My heart breaks for them too. x

Wow, 36 and a young daughter and husband, just seems so incredibly unfair. I am so sorry for your loss. Your words were a sweet tribute to how she touched you and those around her. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Now following you.
