30 day challenge: Lose 5kg

Image from here
As I squeezed into my jeans this morning, I thought to myself: "If you almost go on a diet, you almost lose weight".

So I did something.

I pulled out "Losing the Last 5kg" by Michelle Bridges (Mum gave it to me for my birthday in May!), weighed myself, wrote a menu plan for the week, went out to the grocery store and bought my supplies, did my fitness test and scheduled my six exercise sessions into my diary. Michelle promises me that if I trust her and do what she says, I will lose 5kg in 30 days and get a whole lot fitter to boot*.

I am ready.

I had to jiggle the menus a bit to suit my tastes, and the exercise sessions may not be as hard-core as Michelle expects every single day, but I am prepared to give this a red hot go. No booze. No coke zero. Fewer carbs. And 1200 calories a day (is that even possible?). It will tick a few boxes on my 52in52 list too, so all good. In theory.

The next thirty days will be all about changing habits. Michelle is going to hold my hand all the way. I promise I won't blog about it every day, but I will give you an update in the next week or so.

Will you tackle it with me?

*I know I need a sustainable approach to weight loss, but for now I just want to spring into Spring and drop some kilos. Phase two will be about maintaining.

I am totally in for the ride. I need to work my arse off for summer. Lots of tummy and thigh toning. Wouldn't mind getting some guns in there too.
Lets do this!

My husband and I were just talking about this tonight. I actually want to lose a bit before going to a conference in 5 weeks, so I will definitely join in.

We have committed to better eating here and I am upping my exercise.

Good luck. :)

Stay strong!! My favourite thing to remember when struggling is "I will not let food control me".

Count me in! I joined the gym a few weeks ago and have been going on my lunch breaks - I can't fit it in at any other time! My goal is to lose 7-10kg, and while I've found a maintainable exercise regime, I'm yet to find the balance with my meal planning - doesn't help that hubby works late, I get caught up at work, and we have 2 young kids who get hungry as soon as we walk in the door from me picking them up from daycare. Oh and hubby is a fussy eater and refuses to eat salad, but will at least eat vegies, so that makes it harder too! I'm with you though!

Look forward to your updates.
I'd love to say I'm in - but no booze?! I may as well be pregnant!!

If we all stuck our extra 5 kilos together, we could make a whole person!
Count me in. I will be a week behind, but with you nonetheless.

I'm with you! I'll try and lose just a few kilos though. And I can't do "no booze", I failed at Dry July, so I'm not even going to try that. I'll just try and limit my chocolate (and biscuits and sweets) intake and do some more exercise.....and I'll have to judge my success based on how my jeans feel as I don't own scales :-) But I'm still with you!!

Count me in too! I'm not giving up the Cosmos, but I'll swear off bakeries for a month and increase my exercise. Here's to us all being 5kg lighter (and much sexier) next month! :)

I am wrapped that you are all interested in joining the challenge! Day one has been a bit of a slog but I am feeling motivated because you are all in it too! Here's to a great month of weight loss. I wonder how much we will lose between us???

Hello, I'm in too... in already because of the 9 weeks personal training won in the raffle... lower aim just lose 2 kilos over 9 weeks - surely can do THAT??!! Errr... but with lots of exercise, my jeans are fitting now and that was another goal. Main thing is that I feel great, must be all the veggies.

blog about it to your hearts content, I need all the motivation I can get. I've got the swing of this exercise thing but I can't stop shovelling crap into my mouth!
I bought that book, read it, and then it was one of my things I sold on ebay. got over 50% of my money back, lol.
it was a good read, but I just knew i wasn't going to 'stick to it'
But the sun is shining and I'm going to walk down to the supermarket tomorrow and buy fresh. I'm gonna give this a red hot shot! 5kgs is what I want to lose too. Goodluck.
