Year in Review - The Asbestos Crisis

I don't think I managed a single post in 2016 so I am taking time to stock take 16 things to remember from 2016 before I can't remember them... So here goes...

Five weeks after moving into our beautiful new/old house we received a letter from a government informing us that there was a possibility that we had asbestos in our ceiling insulation.

The same insulation that all of our tradies had just crawled around in.

The same insulation that had been spread all around the place when the ceilings were removed/replaced.

The upshot was that if we did, our place would be demolished as part of the asbestos removal process. Imagine!

The health of our builders, tradies and ourselves was of course the biggest concern, but five weeks into our new home! The timing couldn't have been worse.

Needless to say this news was not well-received, and the fact that it would take up to six months for the inspection to take place was too much for this chicken to cope with. We couldn't wait to have our place assessed so paid for it to be done privately.

Best $99 we ever spent. Three hour turn around and it was all over!

Asbestos free!!!!
